ADLINK Angelo RTV series multi-channel real-time video capture card

Basic General Information

1. Product positioning and application scenarios

RTV is a PC architecture multi-channel analog composite video real-time capture card, compatible with NTSC/PAL/SECAM color, CCIR/EIA black and white analog cameras, used for:

Security digital video recorder DVR, factory industrial monitoring;

Machine vision online detection, scientific research/medical image acquisition.

2. Core general functional characteristics

(1) Image acquisition capability

Native 4-channel composite BNC video input, which can be expanded to a maximum of 16 channels through the expansion of daughter cards;

Standard compatibility: NTSC-M/J, full PAL subtype SECAM、 Black and white CCIR/EIA;

Resolution: Native 4CIF (640 × 480)/768 × 576, supporting 1:16 scaling and custom cropping of regions of interest;

Image adjustment: adjustable color tone, contrast (0-200%), brightness, saturation (0-200%), built-in automatic chromaticity gain;

Frame rate limit: NTSC single channel 30 frames, total 4 channels 120 frames; PAL single channel 25 frames, 4 channels totaling 100 frames; The maximum frame rate of PMC-RTV is 30 frames per second.

(2) Universal IO and Trigger System

Onboard TTL compatible with 4DI+4DO+4-channel software trigger output, built-in pull-up, with overvoltage and ESD protection;

The adjustable range of the trigger pulse is 60 μ s~16ms, and it supports external signal triggered capture;

Optional RTV-I4 isolation relay IO board to achieve strong current isolation switch output.

(3) Watchdog (standard for RTV-24/PCIe-RTV24)

Hardware watchdog timer, automatically outputs a signal to reset the entire machine when there is no response after software timeout, suitable for unmanned remote monitoring equipment, and improves fault tolerance stability.

(4) Supporting software ecosystem

Windows WDM driver, supporting VC/VB/Delphi/C++Builder;

ViewCreator visual debugging tool, free of code collection, screenshot, and parameter adjustment;

AngeloLVIEW is compatible with LabVIEW 6.0 and above, with a complete set of visual VI libraries;

Provide Linux specific driver packages.

3. Minimum hardware requirements for the system

CPU: Pentium 4 2.4GHz and above; Memory ≥ 256MB DDR;

Graphics card: AGP4X or above (VIA/SIS chipset not recommended);

System: Win2000 requires SP4 or above, resolution ≥ 800 × 600, 16 bit color depth;

Attached are frame rate and CPU usage benchmark test tables for three bus platforms, PCI33/PCI-X/PCIe, distinguishing real-time performance boundaries for RGB16/RGB24 and 4CIF/CIF/QCIF resolutions.


Full Series Hardware Models, Specifications, Interfaces, and Optional Modules

2.1 Standard Desktop Series (PCI/PCIe Bus)

1)PCIe-RTV24

Bus: PCIe, native 4-channel BNC video input;

Expansion: Onboard 3 sets of 10 pin expansion sockets, paired with RTV-E4, can expand up to 16 video channels;

IO: 2 sets of 10 pin GPIO sockets, 4 inputs/4 outputs/4 software triggers;

Hardware watchdog, 1kbit user programmable EEPROM for storing custom parameters;

Supporting: watchdog reset cable, GPIO board, manual, driver CD.

2) RTV-24 (32-bit 33/66MHz half length PCI)

Hardware specifications, channels IO、 The watchdog and expansion capability are completely consistent with PCIe-RTV24, only the bus interface is different;

Connector: 4-channel BNC video input, CN2/CN3/CN5 three-way video expansion socket, CN8/CN9 two sets of GPIO sockets, 2-pin watchdog reset socket;

IO Electrical: Input high 2.0~5.25V, low 0~0.8V; output high 5V, low ≤ 0.5V, single channel current 100mA.

3) Two optional expansion sub cards

① RTV-E4 Video Expansion Board

Add 4 BNC video inputs to a single module, connect a 10 pin ribbon cable to the motherboard expansion socket, and connect up to 3 RTV24 modules to achieve a total of 16 channels.

② RTV-I4 Isolation Relay IO Board (Industrial High Voltage Special)

4-channel relay output (normally open/normally closed switched by jumper), 4-channel isolated DI;

Trigger output STRG supports high/low effective jumper configuration;

Electrical parameters: Input 5~24V, relay load AC125V/0.5A, DC30V/1A;

External 25 pin D-Sub interface, ribbon cable connected to motherboard GPIO socket.

2.2 cRTV CompactPCI Industrial Control Series (3U/6U Chassis)

1)cRTV-24(3U cPCI)

32/64 bit 33/66MHz cPCI bus, 4-channel BNC video;

Only one set of video extension seats, expandable up to a maximum of 8 channels; No onboard GPIO, no watchdog;

Equipped with channel status indicator light and standard 3U card locking mechanism.

2)cRTV-44(6U cPCI)

6U size, retaining 4DI+4DO+4 trigger IO, two GPIO sockets;

Same single expansion socket, maximum 8 video inputs, compatible with 6U industrial control chassis.

2.3 PMC Embedded Series (Back Board Card)

1)PMC-RTV21

32-bit 33MHz PMC bus, DB9 interface with 4 video channels, simplified IO with only 1DI+1DO;

Suitable for cPCI CPU board PMC slot embedded devices.

2)PMC-RTV21G

The function is completely the same as RTV21, with video and GPIO changed to onboard 10 pin ribbon sockets and no DB9 external interface.

General Hardware Interface Specification

Unified 10 pin cable layout for video extension seats, with 4 new composite videos added to each seat;

GPIO pins distinguish between external interrupt input, digital output, software trigger output, and+5V power supply GND;

All models come with a 1kbit EEPROM for users to store device configuration and calibration parameters.

Complete Installation Process of Hardware and Drivers

3.1 Hardware installation steps (by bus model)

PCI/PCIe RTV24 desktop card

Power off the entire machine, select an idle PCI/PCIe slot, align and smoothly insert the fixing screws; Connect RTV-E4/RTV-I4 expansion cable as needed; Connect BNC analog camera.

CRTV 3U/6U industrial control card

Open the chassis, remove the slot stopper, push in the board along the guide rail and lock the two side levers, fix the screws and connect the wires.

PMC board

Align with the PMC slot of the CPU board and press it vertically to fix it. Connect the DB9 video cable externally.

3.2 Windows WDM driver installation (key prerequisite: install the driver before inserting the board)

Insert the Linghua integrated tool CD and select "Driver Installation → Vision → Angelo → Windows Driver" in sequence;

Run the installation wizard, select the installation path, and restart the computer after completion;

Upon startup, the 'New Hardware Wizard' will pop up, automatically searching the driver directory to complete the recognition of 8 audio and video devices (4 videos+4 virtual audio devices);

Device Manager Verification: If 8 ADLINK Angelo audio and video devices appear, the installation is successful; If a yellow question mark appears, manually specify the driver directory C: Program Files ADLINK Angelo RTV Drivers Win2KXP and reinstall.

3.3 Linux Drivers

The CD contains an independent Linux driver package, and the manual only explains the entry path without step-by-step operation.


ViewCreator Visual Debugging Tool

1. Tool usage

Factory hardware testing, image parameter debugging, code free rapid acquisition and verification, replacing programming debugging.

2. Core functional modules

Real time image preview and continuous capture;

Image parameter adjustment: brightness/contrast/saturation/scaling/cropping;

Image storage: Single frame saving in BMP and other formats;

Auxiliary tools: channel status reading, IO manual input/output control, trigger signal testing.

3. Running Logic

The software enumerates all RTV boards and channels, independently configures image parameters for each channel, and provides real-time preview of hardware acquisition screens.


C/C++Function Development Library (Complete API System)

For secondary development, all functions are divided into 8 categories, with accompanying data types and frame structure definitions:

System functions: device enumeration, board initialization/reset, firmware version reading, error code conversion;

Configuration functions: standard switching, resolution, scaling, cropping, image color adjustment parameter settings;
