1.1 Product Model and Packing List
The two hardware specifications are the same, with only differences in the rear wiring I/O:
CPCI-8217 (Standard Edition): No rear I/O, only J1 bus connector; The packaging includes a motherboard, manual, and driver CD.
CPCI-8217R (rear wiring version): with J2 rear I/O, matched with cPCI-R8217 rear adapter board; Add I/O module after RTM packaging.
OEM customized packaging and configuration can be changed as needed; Please check the accessories upon receipt, and contact the dealer for any damages or missing items.

Standard 3U CompactPCI industrial display card, equipped with Silicon Motion SM721 graphics controller, driving both CRT VGA display and TFT/DSTN LCD panel; Built in 4MB video memory (large quantities of OEM can customize 8MB), supports 2D/basic 3D acceleration, suitable for industrial control and embedded display scenes.

1.5 Hardware Block Diagram Logic
PCI bus 32bit/33MHz connected to SM721 main control (4/8MB video memory); The main control is divided into two outputs:
Simulate RGB signals and send them to the CN8 VGA interface to drive the CRT display;
The digital LCD signal is output to CN3, coupled with a brightness/backlight switch controller to drive the backlight inverter, ultimately illuminating the LCD screen;
All onboard knobs, buttons, and jumpers are connected to the backlight control module to achieve hardware adjustment of brightness and screen on/off.

Chapter 2: Hardware Installation
This chapter provides a detailed explanation of the configuration methods for jumper wires, dip switches, connectors, and front panel control components on the board. Attached are the board silk screen layout diagram and panel schematic diagram.

2.2 Definition of all connectors
CN8 (DB15 VGA front interface): Standard VGA pin, including I2C DDC clock/data, RGB analog, row field synchronization,+5V CRT power supply.
CN1/CN5 (backlight inverter interface, 4Pin): Brightness adjustment BRTADJ, GND, backlight enable ENBKL,+12V backlight power supply (with 1.1A self recovery fuse).
CN3 (44Pin LCD front interface): complete 24 bit RGB data, pixel clock, row field synchronization, LCD power supply FPVDD/FPVEE, screen flipping control signal, backlight enable; All voltage circuits are equipped with overcurrent self recovery insurance.
CompactPCI bus connector
CPCI-8217: Only J1 (32-bit PCI bus), can be safely inserted into 64 bit/PXI backboards;
CPCI-8217R: J1+J2 dual connector, J2 all leads out LCD signals; It is strictly prohibited to insert a 64 bit/PXI backplane with a custom P2 bus, as it may burn out the board/system.
2.3 Front panel human-machine interaction components
LCD brightness adjustment knob: To adjust the backlight voltage, an external backlight inverter is required, which only works in LCD mode;
Green LED (LCD running indicator light): Always on when LCD signal+backlight is turned on; Only turn off in VGA BIOS;
Amber LED (power-saving indicator light): LCD off/system APM energy-saving mode on; Always on under VGA BIOS only;
S1 button: one key switch on the exposed LCD panel;
CN8 DB15 VGA standard display output port.
Chapter 3: Driver Installation
The driver files are stored on the accompanying CD path X: HIPDRV VGA SM721, divided into three sets of manual update processes for Windows systems. For detailed steps on Linux/OS2, please refer to the CD documentation:
Windows 2000 installation: Device Manager updates the display adapter, specifies the WIN2K directory's INF file, ignores digital signatures to complete the installation;
Windows 98 installation: Control Panel Device Manager updates standard VGA driver, loads WIN9X directory, restarts to take effect;
Windows NT4.0 installation: Display settings - Change display type, load NT40 driver, restart activation;
Core logic: The system defaults to loading the universal standard VGA driver, and the SM721 dedicated driver must be manually installed to fully enable dual display, LCD hardware adjustment, and high-resolution features.
