Basler DECS-2100 Digital Excitation System

Classification of System Application Solutions

1. Newly customized excitation cabinet (Cubical Systems)

Medium and small capacity: Dual compact rectifier bridge solution, rated at 1400Adc;

Large capacity N+1 redundancy scheme: rated at 3100 Adc, paired with Basler BE1 series protection relays;

Large scale thermal power example: 970MVA steam turbine generator renovation project, 14 power drawers connected in parallel, single unit failure does not affect full load operation, maximum excitation current is 8140Adc, realizing rotating excitation to static excitation, reducing operation and maintenance workload;

Cabinet size options: standard depth of 60 inches; The compact rectifier bridge solution has a minimum size of only 36 inches and supports segmented shipping, adapting to the existing busbar wiring on site.

2. Front end retrofit kits (retrofit kits, core advantages)

For the renovation of old ECS2200, Westinghouse and other original factory shutdown excitation equipment, there is no need to replace the power cabinet as a whole, only the control part needs to be replaced:

Lower cost: Reuse existing long-term durable power devices and only update the core control unit;

Detailed explanation of the entire series of hardware modules (modular components of the system)

(1) ECM-2 excitation main control module (system core controller)

1. Hardware and electrical specifications

Power supply: dual redundant 24Vdc;

Switching input: 4-channel ± 24Vdc/125Vac/dc;

Relay output: 4-channel 7A continuous current carrying;

Analog input: 24 channel AC/DC acquisition; Analog output: 2-channel 4-20mA/± 10Vdc;

Communication: Dual Ethernet RS232、 Multiple RS485 Modbus, USB master-slave, multiple fiber optic, IRIG-B timing;

Expansion interfaces: fiber optic cascaded BCM rectifier module, DIOM digital IO, AIOM analog IO, IT isolation transmitter, capable of controlling up to 16 rectifier bridges;

Size: 9.18 x 14 x 2.75 inches, weight 2.27kg.

2. Control operation mode (multiple adjustable modes can be freely switched)

AVR automatic voltage regulation (main mode);

Constant current regulation of excitation current;

Excitation voltage regulation;

Constant regulation of reactive power Var;

Constant power factor regulation;

Differential adjustment, line voltage drop compensation, and multi unit reactive power sharing.

3. Complete set of limiter functions

Minimum excitation limit MEL, under excitation limit UEL, over excitation limit OEL, instantaneous overcurrent limit, stator current limit, V/Hz magnetic flux limit.

4. Built in protection logic

A complete set of generator excitation protection including overvoltage/undervoltage, overexcitation, demagnetization protection, PT voltage loss, three-phase imbalance, excitation grounding, V/Hz overcurrent, stator overcurrent, etc.

5. Transformation and adaptation

Perfectly compatible with the old ECS2200 system, with minimal wiring changes when paired with a modified motherboard, while retaining all original expansion modules.

(2) BCM-2 rectifier bridge control module

A single set of 6-pulse SCR thyristor rectifier bridge is controlled, responsible for pulse triggering, bridge body temperature, and power circuit monitoring.

Hardware: Dual redundant 24V power supply, 5-way switch input, 4-way C-type relay output, 7-way platinum RTD temperature measurement, analog acquisition, USB/Ethernet/fiber optic communication;

Function: Output SCR gate trigger pulse, real-time monitoring of rectifier conduction, radiator temperature, and power failure;

Upgrade point: Compared to the old BCM, it has added input channels, clear labeling, and the same size and terminals. It can directly replace the old DECS400/450 and ECS2200 trigger boards.

(3) AIOM-2 Analog Input/Output Expansion Module

Fiber optic isolated communication, expanding analog signal acquisition and transmission output:

4-channel analog input (4-20mA/± 10V), 2-channel 100 Ω platinum RTD;

8 analog outputs; Can cascade two blocks, doubling IO capacity;

500V electrical isolation, dial code to switch between old and new equipment compatibility modes, and directly switch to old AIOM.

(4) DIOM-2 Digital IO Expansion Module

Fiber optic cascade expansion switch: 24 inputs, 16 C-type relay outputs; Dual module series connection with a maximum of 48 inputs and 32 outputs; Compatible with 24V/125V AC/DC input, the size and terminals are exactly the same as the old DIOM, and can be replaced without damage.

(5) IT-2 Isolation Transmitter Module

Electrical isolation main control and high-voltage excitation circuit, single module dual channel acquisition; Support high voltage DC/shunt small mV excitation current acquisition, dip code switching range, and DC to old isolation transmitter conversion.

(6) FGD-2 excitation grounding detector

Continuously monitor the rotor excitation to ground insulation, output a 0-15V proportional leakage current signal to the ECM, divided into two types: 800V low voltage and 1750V high voltage, used for rotor one point grounding protection.

(7) DXCB-2 demagnetization/crossover protection module

Provide a low impedance discharge channel during faults, absorb rotor overvoltage, and operate in two modes: demagnetization DX and cross connection Crowbar; Support parallel expansion of multiple units, compatible with 600V/1000V excitation voltage levels, and equipped with high-power discharge resistors.

(8) IDP-1201 12 inch touch screen display HMI

SVGA color touch screen, 24V power supply, USB/Ethernet/Modbus communication; Both local and remote control rooms can be installed, with real-time monitoring of excitation voltage and current, unit parameters, alarms, and support for local magnetic operation. It is compatible with old PanelMate/IDP1200 models for retrofitting.

(9) PT/CT voltage/current acquisition board

PT board: three-phase PT signal isolation attenuation, with one board signal distributed to up to 3 sets of main/backup/monitoring ECMs;

CT board: CT secondary signal boost conversion, compatible with ECM acquisition, supports star and delta wiring.


Power rectifier bridge (power drawer series)

Multi specification thyristor rectifier unit, capable of parallel connection and N+1 redundant configuration:

Low voltage power drawer: 600Vac input, 1100Adc;

Medium voltage power drawer: 900Vac input, 1000Adc;

High voltage power drawer: 1300Vac input, 900Adc;

Compact rectifier bridge CRB (low/medium voltage), SSE-N small rectifier bridge;

All are equipped with BCM-2 control, redundant cooling fans, and DC bus isolation terminals.
