Hardware composition of the whole machine
MVC internal core components: three position function switch, adjustable autotransformer, full wave rectifier bridge, overload protection fuse.
Key electrical specifications for three models
1. Single phase input power supply (taken from the generator voltage)
Model Rated Input Voltage Input Frequency Range Maximum Input Capacity
MVC 104 120 Vac 50~400Hz 840 VA
MVC 108 240 Vac 50~400Hz 1680 VA
MVC 232 60 Vac 50~400Hz 1200 VA
Addendum: When the generator voltage does not match the rated input of the machine, an external isolation transformer must be connected.
2. DC excitation output (supplied to the excitation winding, long-term continuous)
Model Output DC Voltage Output DC Current
MVC 104 110 Vdc 7 Adc
MVC 108 220 Vdc 7 Adc
MVC 232 55 Vdc 20 Adc
3. Physical and authentication parameters
Working temperature: -40 ℃~50 ℃
Weight: MVC104 13.2kg; MVC108/MVC232 16.3kg
Certification: MVC104 and 108 have passed CSA CAN/CSA-C22.2 No.14 standard certification

Three working modes and operating standards
The three position switch on the panel has three levels: Manual/Auto/Off shutdown, with mandatory pre operation requirements.
1. Manual mode
Pre hard requirement: Before switching to manual mode, the panel autotransformer knob must be completely turned counterclockwise to position 0 to prevent sudden surge of excitation voltage from impacting the unit;
Work logic: Disconnect the AVR automatic voltage regulator circuit, and use the local autotransformer voltage regulator and rectifier bridge to output DC excitation; Rotating the voltage regulating knob can continuously adjust the excitation current/generator voltage;
Safety feature: When switched to manual mode, the AVR terminal is completely powered off, and the AVR can be directly disassembled for maintenance without any risk of electrification.
2. Auto (automatic mode)
The excitation of the generator is fully closed-loop regulated by the matching Basler AVR (SR/KR series automatic voltage regulator), and MVC only serves as a switching bypass and does not participate in excitation regulation.
3. Off (shutdown mode)
Completely cut off the excitation power supply and reset the excitation of the unit to zero; Like manual mode, all terminals of AVR are powered off, meeting the safety conditions for maintenance.
Overload protection
This machine is equipped with two fuses, which provide overload and short circuit protection for both the MVC itself and the backend AVR regulator. The protection is continuously effective under both manual and automatic operating conditions.
Installation requirements
Installation method
Embedded panel: Removable nameplate cover plate, fixed by punching holes according to the manual hole size (Figure 1);
Cabinet cabinet door wall mounted: Use the overall dimensions of the machine (Figure 2) to arrange the installation space.
Standard for Wiring Diameter (Table 2)
L1/L2/L3/E1/E2/E3/1/2 terminals: 14 AWG wire;
F1/F2/F+/F -/3/4/23/24 excitation power terminal: 12 AWG thick wire.
Wiring scheme
Standard wiring diagram: provides two mainstream AVR matching wiring options
Figure 3: Adapting to SR series automatic voltage regulator;
Figure 4: Compatible with KR4F/KR7F series automatic voltage regulator;
Clearly distinguish between generator input, MVC input, excitation DC output, and AVR interconnection terminals.
Step up/step down adaptation: When the generator voltage does not match the rated input of MVC, connect an external isolation transformer according to Figure 5 to complete voltage matching.
Terminal layout: Figure 6 indicates the physical locations of all terminals and fuses of the entire machine for easy on-site search.
