Installation chapter
Installation Preparation and Inspection Checklist
Clarify the complete construction sequence: cabinet fixation → chassis installation → motherboard installation → optional module installation → battery capacity calculation → all wiring (without power on) → setting backup alarm switch → wiring printer/CRT → connecting SLC circuit → first connect AC power → verify AC power → then connect battery → install cabinet door → programming → on-site testing.
Key: Connect the AC power first, confirm that the AC is normal, and then connect the battery. Do not connect the battery in advance.
Installation of Cabinet CAB-4
The distance from the top of the cabinet to the ground is 66 inches (1.6764m);
The 9-inch area at the bottom of the cabinet is specifically reserved for the battery, and cables should not enter from here;
The old model CAB-3/2002-10 produced CAB-4 cabinets, and the height of the internal fixed pillars must be cut to ≤ 9.52mm, otherwise it will crush the CPU circuit board.
Wiring rules: The routing of restricted power circuits and unrestricted power circuits must be isolated by ≥ 6.35mm, with different knock off holes and conduit entering and exiting the cabinet.
Hardware assembly of motherboard, display, and expansion board
The CPU motherboard is fixed on the CHS-M2 chassis;
Choose between two options: KDM-2 keyboard display screen; Or XLS-NCA as the main display;
LEM-320 circuit expansion board is installed through stacked connector J3;
NCM network modules, ICM/CRM and other panel circuit modules are connected using brackets and cables;
All installation holes must be screwed to ensure the continuity of the protective ground.
Power wiring
AC communication: 120V/240V dedicated fire independent circuit, 12AWG cable, TB2 terminal: live wire, neutral wire, protective earth;
Battery TB1: Connect 2 12V batteries in series, and only connect the batteries after AC power on verification is OK; There is a risk of sulfuric acid corrosion in batteries;
TB7 has two 24V outputs:
RESET can reset to 24V (maximum 1.25A, for four wire smoke detectors, power off for 15 seconds when the host is reset)
NONRST cannot be reset to 24V (maximum 1.25A, for complex display, TM-4, etc., system reset does not power off).
NAC Sound and Light Circuit&Relay Terminal
TB3-TB6 is a motherboard with 4 built-in NACs, supporting Style-Y/Z, and equipped with terminal resistors ELR-2.2K;
Important: If NAC is used for gas release, do not turn on the Backup Alarm SW6 SW9 switch.
TB8-TB11: Fire alarm, fault, monitoring, and security 4 sets of Form-C relays, jumper can modify the behavior of monitoring/security relays.
Panel expansion module wiring (ICM-4RK, CRM-4RK, ARM-4)
ICM-4RK provides 4 NAC channels, while ICE-4 expands to 8 channels; CRM-4RK provides 4 relays and CRE-4 expansion;
ARM-4 high-power relay must be driven by CRM-4RK/CRE-4, with a maximum contact of 20A;
When multiple power supplies are used, it is necessary to cut off the JP1/JP2 jumper wires on the board;
Ribbon flat ribbon cable connects the motherboard J5/J6 with various expansion modules.
Printer, CRT-2, PC programming (EIA 232 TB14/TB15)
PRN series, Keltron printer; CRT-2 terminal; VeriFire programming PC;
The communication cable is shielded twisted pair, with a maximum length limit, and requires self-made DB-25 cable;
Cannot be used simultaneously in CRT-2 host networking mode; Support parallel connection of multiple device buses.
SLC signal circuit wiring
Terminal TB16 (SLC1); LEM‑320 TB1(SLC2);
Support Style4 (non circular), Style6/Style7 (circular fault-tolerant loop); Prohibit T-shaped taps;
Maximum cable length: 12AWG twisted pair Style4 can reach 3810 meters; Style6/7 has a total length of 10000ft;
The total capacitance of SLC circuit cannot exceed 0.5 μ F.

System application scenarios
NFPA72-1999 Central/Remote Station System: Equipped with UDACT communicator, alarms can be uploaded through telephone lines; The central station requires a 24-hour backup battery, while the remote station requires a 60h backup battery.
Proprietary fire protection system: UDACT sends fire alarm, fault, and monitoring signals to remote receiving hosts.
Fire and security composite system (Canada does not recognize this mode)
STS-1 chassis anti disassembly switch connected to J10; Module setting Security type code;
The system reset has a 30 second exit delay and no entry delay; The security circuit cannot share the output with the fire NAC.
Fire extinguishing and release applications (gas, rain, pre action)
Compatible with various fire extinguishing standards such as NFPA2/12A/13/17/2001; Supports up to 10 logical release zones;
Two types of wiring: ① Directly use the motherboard NAC terminal; ② Using addressing module XLS-CM-N;
Connect to NBG-12LRA manual release stop station;
It is strictly prohibited to activate the backup alarm switch when releasing the circuit, and gas operations must follow the personal safety locking process.
System testing and maintenance
Acceptance Test: Fully in accordance with NFPA72-1999 Chapter 7, authorized fire technicians shall complete all tests in the presence of the owner and supervisor.
Periodic maintenance: Monthly routine inspections, after modifying programs and adding or removing hardware, not only test the modified points, but also randomly test 10% of non modified devices (up to 50 points).
Operation inspection items
Test LED lights to be fully lit (LAMP TEST);
Trigger input devices one by one, verify sound and light outputs, and relays;
Disconnect the AC and rely solely on battery power to test all alarm functions;
Fire telephone circuit communication test;
Before conducting device release testing, it is necessary to physically disconnect the executing device and not rely solely on software shielding.
Battery maintenance
Sealed lead-acid battery, no need to add water; Mandatory replacement within 5 years;
Battery voltage alarm threshold: If it is below 21.6VDC under load, it must be replaced; After the new battery is powered off, it needs to be charged for 48 hours before conducting a discharge test.
CPU onboard lithium battery: stores RAM configuration data, with a lifespan of approximately 10 years, and reports a fault of "Bat. Backup RAM".
Calculation of Power and Battery Capacity (Engineering Core)
The manual provides a complete calculation table for calculating AC branch current, standby current, fire alarm current, and battery ampere hour (AH) capacity.
Differentiation: Primary power supply AC mains power; Secondary power supply battery backup power supply;
Calculation steps: 1) Count the DC current consumed by all devices during standby and fire alarm; 2) Confirm standby hours: local system 24-hour standby+5-minute fire alarm; Remote station standby for 60 hours; 3) Calculate the total AH and multiply it by the capacity reduction factor;
Battery selection: 12AH/25AH with built-in cabinet; External XLS-LBB independent battery box is required for 25AH, with a maximum support of 55AH.
Attention: The maximum standby power of the motherboard is 3A, and the maximum standby power for fire alarm is 6A. If overload occurs, an APS-6R auxiliary power supply must be added.
Electrical specifications and cable requirements
All electrical parameters of power supply, SLC circuit, NAC circuit, relay, and four wire smoke detector;
AWG, maximum distance, and shielding requirements for various types of circuit cables;
SLC: Unshielded twisted pair cable;
EIA 485/EIA 232: Twisted pair cables must be shielded;
AC must have an independent fire protection circuit and is strictly prohibited from supplying power to other equipment; The protective ground should be reliably grounded.
