Installation and System Configuration

Installation Requirements

Installation surface: horizontal, anti slip, no vibration, such as workbench or rack;

Space requirement: Reserve ≥ 150mm heat dissipation space on the back of the device to ensure air circulation;

Environmental requirements: working temperature 0-55 ℃, avoiding dust, moisture, and corrosive gases;

Power requirements: Connect to a grounded power outlet, and it is recommended to use a terminal block or UPS with overvoltage protection.

System Installation (via Recovery DVD)

Insert the Recovery DVD, set the BIOS to boot from the DVD, and press any key when "PRESS ANY KEY TO BOOT FROM DVD" appears;

Select system language (supports 6 languages), time format, and keyboard layout;

Enter the product key (required for Windows Server 2008/2012, not required for Windows Embedded Standard 7);

Partition configuration (6 options available):

Method 1: Allocate all new hard drives as system disks;

Method 2: Install the system after partitioning the new hard drive;

Method 3/4: Restore the corresponding operating system on the hard drive of the existing system;

Method 5/6: Replace the original operating system (such as Win7 with Server 2008);

Installation completed: The system automatically copies files and restarts twice, taking approximately 30-40 minutes throughout the process.

Hardware Expansion Installation

Safety prerequisite: Turn off the device power → unplug the power cord → wait for the component to cool down → release static electricity (touch the grounded metal);

Open the side panel: Loosen the 2 screws that fix the side panel on the back of the device → Push the side panel backwards → Lift it up and remove it;

Install extended hardware:

Expansion card (PCIe/PCI): Insert into the corresponding slot and secure the buckle;

Hard drive: Install onto the hard drive bracket, connect the data cable and power cable;

Dedicated graphics card (ibaDeskline SAS PCI only): Insert into the reserved PCIe x4 slot and connect to a DVI/VGA adapter;

Restore device: Reinstall the side panel and tighten the screws → Connect the power cord and peripherals.


Equipment Structure and Monitoring Components

Appearance and Internal Structure

Front: Built in optical drive (with write function), hard drive slot (supporting 1-7 hard drives);

Top: USB interface (divided by model 2.0/3.0), headphone/microphone interface, power button, reset button;

Back: power switch and socket, network interface, USB interface, video output interface, expansion slot, grounding terminal;

Internal: Power supply unit (dual module for redundant models), PCIe/PCI expansion slot, hard disk controller, 12cm cooling fan, built-in USB interface (for software encryption dongle).

Fault Monitoring Components

Maintenance and Troubleshooting

Routine maintenance process

Remove all removable storage media (DVDs, memory cards, etc.);

Turn off the operating system → turn off the device power → unplug the power cord;

Remove the side panel (left or both sides);

Perform maintenance operations (cleaning dust, inspecting fans, replacing components);

Reinstall the side panel → connect the power cord → power on test.

Power replacement (redundant version)

Fault diagnosis: The green indicator light of the power module is off or the device emits a buzzing alarm;

Replacement steps: Loosen the fixing screws of the power module → Pull out the faulty module directly → Insert a new module of the same model → Tighten the fixing screws (supports hot swapping, no need to shut down).

RAID System Recovery (Hard Disk Failure)

Fault diagnosis: The device beeps an alarm, and the faulty hard drive is not displayed in maxView Storage Manager;

Recovery steps:

Hot swappable replacement of faulty hard drives (only applicable to qualified professionals);

Start maxView Storage Manager and log in with the administrator account (administrator/xadmin);

Select the new hard drive ->click "Initialize" to initialize ->click "Spare Management" ->select "Global" ->confirm completion;

Check the "Tasks" column to monitor the reconstruction progress, and close the software after completion.
