Dr. Gu Chunyuan, Chairman of ABB China, said, "High quality development requires highly skilled talents. In the context of the new era, new technologies, industries, and models have put forward new requirements for outstanding engineers in the future. The ABB Cup Intelligent Technology Innovation Competition is aimed at engineering practice, and works with young students to explore how to integrate the advantages of multiple disciplines and specialties to solve technical problems in real scenarios. It comprehensively exercises students' comprehensive innovation ability, engineering practice ability, and systematic thinking to adapt to the new situation of modern technological industry transformation
The co organizer of the competition, Dr. Zhang Nan, Secretary General of the Chinese Society of Automation, stated, "The construction of the 'New Engineering' program, which is vigorously promoted by the country, emphasizes the cross integration of science, humanities, and engineering, and places greater emphasis on the practicality, intersectionality, and comprehensiveness of disciplines. The innovation competition organized by the Chinese Society of Automation and ABB is in line with this concept, focusing on examining students' ability to comprehensively apply multidisciplinary knowledge to solve real-world problems, helping them broaden their horizons, break down disciplinary barriers, attempt cross-border innovation, and select and cultivate composite 'New Engineering' talents needed by future industries
The ABB Cup Innovation Competition has received strong support from the Swiss Embassy in China and the Swiss Consulate General in Shanghai. Swiss Ambassador to China, Bai Ruiyi, said, "Since the establishment of the innovation strategic partnership between China and Switzerland, the two countries have achieved fruitful results in the field of scientific and technological innovation. ABB, as a global technology leader headquartered in Switzerland and rooted in the Chinese market, actively focuses on and promotes local sustainable development, and strives to build the ABB Cup Intelligent Technology Innovation Competition into a leader in technology innovation and talent cultivation cooperation between China and Switzerland
Inverter Semiconductor Temperature Prediction AI Modeling Challenge
In the era of digital intelligence, ABB Drive is committed to continuously innovating through digital transformation to better serve the market and customers. For example, through ABB Cloud Drive, a series of digital solutions are provided to bring customers a digital experience that goes beyond product value and improve production efficiency. ABB provides cloud diagnosis and prediction services based on real-time monitoring and analysis of key performance data of equipment, helping users achieve digital operation and maintenance.
In the "AI Modeling Challenge for Temperature Prediction of Inverter Semiconductors", contestants will attempt to solve specific application problems by mining digital value: based on the massive data provided by ABB from real industrial scenarios, utilizing advanced technologies such as machine learning and big data prediction, analyzing the relationship between equipment data, and independently developing and establishing a temperature estimation model for the core component of the inverter - Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor (IGBT) in Python environment, to achieve high-precision and fast response real-time monitoring of IGBT temperature fluctuations under different load powers. The accuracy and computation time of the model will be the key to determining the winner or loser of the player.
Robot Domino Digital Remote Combat Competition
In recent years, with the continuous rapid growth of the robot market, there has been a large demand for related technical personnel. By 2025. the talent gap in China's industrial robot industry is expected to exceed 4.5 million. As a leading global provider of industrial robot technology, ABB actively responds to China's innovation driven development and talent powerhouse strategy, promoting local talent cultivation in the field of robotics. For example, it has cooperated with nearly a thousand universities to provide robot course training for over one million students.
This innovation competition provides a high-quality competitive platform for robot application talents to showcase their abilities. In the Robot Domino Digital Remote Competition, contestants will use ABB robot simulation software RobotStudio ® Build a digital twin workstation, independently develop intelligent software functions, remotely debug and control ABB industrial robots to complete the placement and pushing of dominoes, etc. While overcoming various difficulties, enhance one's ability to learn software, develop functions, and remotely control and debug robots.
In order to better support participants from all over the world, ABB will hold multiple online live broadcasts, provide software tools and technical training materials required for two sets of competition questions, and invite technical experts to answer questions and clarify doubts for the participants. Outstanding contestants will be invited to attend the award ceremony and visit the ABB booth at the China International Industry Expo in late September.
The ABB Cup Intelligent Technology Innovation Competition is jointly organized by ABB and the Chinese Society of Automation, and has received strong support from industry associations, industry experts, and the Swiss Embassy in China.
