Product positioning and main features
The MEx I/O extender is used for expanding the I/O points of the ME series controller, supporting direct stacking on the ME controller, local stacking panel installation, or remote layout. Core features:
High resolution universal input/output, high measurement and control accuracy;
A single ME controller can connect up to 5 MEx expansion modules; Remote installation with a maximum distance of 100 feet; The first module can be directly stacked on top of the ME812u controller to save control cabinet space;
Detachable screw terminal block, convenient for wiring, maintenance and repair;
Durable aluminum casing, providing electrical protection and excellent noise immunity;
Built in surge and transient protection circuits to protect power, communication, and I/O ports.
MEx series model comparison table:
Model universal output UO universal input UI
MEx48u 4 8
MEx88u 8 8
MEx016u 0 16
MEx816u 8 16
MEx816u: 8-channel universal output, 16 channel universal input, is the key model introduced in the document.
Communication
Bus: Xnet I/O expansion bus, communication rate of 500 Kbps, used for data exchange between ME main controller and expansion module;
Compatibility: Compatible with older Mx I/O expanders (using only 9-pin Sub-D connectors);
Status indicator lights: Power supply, Run operation, Error fault, Xnet TX transmission, Xnet RX reception;
Module address: Rotate the DIP dip switch to set the module network address.
Universal inputs
14 bit ADC analog-to-digital conversion, configurable for multiple signal types:
Voltage: 0-5 Vdc, 0-10 Vdc;
Current: 0-20 mA;
Sensor: 10k Type II thermistor; 1k Ω RTD (platinum, nickel Balco);
Dry contact switch quantity;
Pulse counting function: maximum 40Hz pulse, minimum pulse width 12.5ms.

Universal outputs
Configure output mode through jumper:
Analog output: 0-10V DC, 0-20mA DC (12 bit DAC digital to analog conversion);
Relay drive output: 24V DC, 50mA;
Each output is equipped with a HOA (manual/off/automatic) dip switch, with a potentiometer that can manually adjust the analog output value.
Installation method
Direct Stacking: The first MEx module can be directly installed on top of the ME812u controller;
Panel stacking installation: Multiple modules are stacked inside the control cabinet;
Remote panel installation: up to 100 feet away, connected to the main controller via Xnet bus;
System limit: Up to 5 MEx expansion modules.
