EMERSON AMS 2140 Mechanical Health Analyzer

Basic Information

1. Product subject: Emerson AMS 2140 portable vibration analyzer, supporting single/dual/four channel acquisition, equipped with multiple optional advanced analysis software, used for on-site vibration detection and fault diagnosis of rotating equipment in process factories, and can be connected to AMS Machinery Manager management software for storage and in-depth analysis of data.

2. Manual positioning: Targeting vibration analysts, equipment reliability technicians, and engineers, it fully covers equipment hardware operation, full-featured software, data transmission, safety maintenance, accessories, and certification specifications. It does not provide equipment underlying patent information and is only for operational reference. Content changes will not be notified separately.

1.1 Product Core Competence

1.3 General Safety and Maintenance Standards (Key)

1. Maintenance authority: Equipment disassembly and maintenance not specified by the original factory can only be operated by authorized personnel from Emerson. Unauthorized modification/abuse can result in direct loss of warranty;

2. Cleaning requirements: Only clean in non hazardous areas. Acetone, gasoline, and abrasive cleaning agents are prohibited. Only use a dust-free soft cloth and neutral water to wipe, anti-static;

3. Mandatory regulations for batteries

-Only original lithium-ion batteries and power adapters can be used, third-party batteries pose a risk of fire and direct failure;

-Charging environment: 10~35 ℃ (50~95 ℉); Equipment operating environment: -20~50 ℃ (-4~122 ℉);

-It is strictly prohibited to plug and unplug batteries with power on, and they must be disconnected and removed;

-Long term storage: 1-3 months. It is recommended to remove the battery; Contact technical support to enter storage mode after more than 3 months (device and battery completely powered off, charging activated); It is recommended to maintain 40% of the idle battery capacity and regularly recharge it. The aging of lithium batteries is irreversible;

4. Signal input limit

-Acceleration input: 0~24V signal, cannot exceed the limit;

-Voltage/speed input: within ± 24V, overpressure burns out the channel;

Chapter 2: Hardware of the whole machine, basic operations (device body, battery, peripherals, touch screen, Bluetooth, etc.)

2.1 Standard factory accessories

Firmware media, Micro USB data cable, power supply, screen protector, shoulder strap; **Not compatible with the old 25 pin sensor cable * *.

2.2 Body Hardware Layout

1. Battery life: Standard full charge continuous use for more than 8 hours, default 15% pop-up reminder for low battery, customizable warning value; Power failure of the entire machine will not result in loss of collected data;

2. External independent charger: can charge the battery separately, takes about 3 hours to fully charge, and the charging environment is ventilated and cooled;

3. Battery check: The battery level is displayed in the bottom left corner of the homepage, and the battery body button lights up 5 indicator lights (each approximately 20% battery level);

4. Battery replacement steps: Shut down, unplug the power, place the device facing down, remove the back cover and replace the 6 screws. The entire process is limited to non hazardous areas only.

2.4 Power on/off, standby, forced restart

1. Normal power on/off: Long press the power button (default 3 seconds, customizable 1-5 second duration);

2. Standby: Short press the power button, the backlight will turn off, the blue light will remain on, and if there is no operation for 60 minutes, it will automatically shut down;

3. System crash and hard restart: Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to force a power outage.

2.5 Homepage and System Global Settings

The homepage is divided into two sets of shortcut keys, ALT1 and ALT2, covering collection, transmission, and system settings; Global setup path: Home>ALT>F2 General Setup, configurable:

-Standby automatic timer (1-30 minutes), backlight automatic turn off timer (0-120 seconds);

Regulations for the use of hazardous areas

Identification of explosion-proof level on the back of the body:

1. CSA General: Not suitable for use in hazardous areas;

2. Class I Division 2, ATEX/IECEx Zone 2: Explosion proof models (without keyboard backlight);

4.1 Two types of transmission software

1. AMS Machinery Manager Data Transfer: Supporting database, bidirectional transmission of inspection/homework, screenshots, firmware, and printed reports; Supports USB/Ethernet/wireless;

2. Independent standalone transfer tool: Dedicated to computers without databases, only for file transfer, cannot create tasks, and cannot be installed on the same machine as the main software.

4.2 Three Communication Connection Methods

1. USB (default): Most commonly used, disabled in hazardous areas;

2. Ethernet: High speed, supports remote server connection, requires configuration of DHCP/static IP, host port (default 10077);

3. Wireless WiFi: Supports open WEP、WPA/WPA2-PSK、 Enterprise encryption, can manually add hidden networks;

General operation: The device and computer port types must be consistent, and connections should be established through 'Connect For Transfer' within each program.

4.3 Bidirectional Transmission of Routing/Homework

1. Computer distribution: inspection routes, various analysis tasks to the analyzer; Support MRL multi routing batch loading;

2. Equipment feedback: collect data, measurement records, notes, and alarm data from the site to the database; Single/batch export to computer folder;

3. Printing function: Waveforms/reports can be directly connected to a computer for printing, or saved to SD card images.

4.4 Firmware and Program Upgrades

1. Upgrade the firmware independently from each analysis program, update the firmware first and then update the module;

2. Upgrade entrance: When the device is turned on, long press Home+Power to enter the special function menu, and connect to the computer via USB to flash write;

3. Custom startup screen: Replace 430 × 380 256 color BMP image, can be deleted and restored to default.

4.5 Screenshot function

After connecting to the computer, the transmission software can capture any screen of the device with one click and save it for archiving.

Chapter 4: Route Inspection Collection Procedure (On site Routine Patrol Vibration Measurement Core)

4.1 Basic Logic of Inspection

Route is created in AMS computer software, and the analyzer only loads, collects, and sends back routes, and cannot create/modify routes; Collect single/multi-channel waveforms and spectra in the preset measurement point sequence, suitable for regular trend monitoring of equipment throughout the factory.

Complete process: Computer sends routing → Device activation → Configure collection parameters → Point by point collection → View graph/supplement analysis → Return to database.

4.2 Routing management function

Load/activate/copy/delete routes; Clear single/all measurement point data; View the list of measuring point equipment and the status of measuring points (not measured/normal/alarm); Batch import multiple routing MRL files.

4.3 Custom Collection Parameters

1. Graph display: real-time/stored data switching waveform, spectrum, bar chart, no display;

2. Automatic measurement point jump, average frequency of HFD high-frequency detection, data storage mode (overwrite/query/save all);

3. Spectrum overlap ratio (default 67%), speed mode (analog/digital/peak), integration mode;

4. Multi channel switch, alarm pop-up switch, one click factory recovery of collected parameters;

5. Temporary sensor coverage: Temporary modification when the on-site sensor model/sensitivity does not match the preset sensor.

4.4 Tachometer (speedometer) configuration

Support standard external speed measurement and virtual speed measurement (gearbox intermediate shaft calculation speed), configurable trigger edge, trigger level, edge delay, and parameter can be saved for multiple sets of configuration reuse; Maximum support for 100000RPM speed measurement.

4.5 Measurement point collection operation

1. Collect, retest, skip equipment/measurement points, mark equipment shutdown (Out of Service);

All programs (inspection, dynamic balancing, laser alignment, analysis) share a set of chart operation functions:

1. Full screen map, switch to activate the drawing window;

2. Switch between graph types (waveform/spectrum/axis trajectory, etc.);

3. cursor system: ordinary, harmonic, sideband, time difference, moving harmonic and other types of cursor, marking fault frequency;

4. X/Y axis scaling, linear/logarithmic coordinate switching;

5. Automatically list the top 20 amplitude peaks in the spectrum;

6. Load the bearing and gear fault frequency table, and highlight the defect characteristics in the graph.


Chapter 6: Analyze/Advanced Analyze Advanced Fault Analysis

6.1 Program positioning

Temporary deep diagnosis for non preset routes, divided into standard version (single channel) and advanced version (2/4 channels); Divided into two modes: "Expert preset analysis template" and "Manual custom acquisition", used for troubleshooting equipment difficult vibrations, bearings/gears/resonances.

6.2 Homework Management

Manually create analysis tasks to store temporary data, customize device IDs, measurement points, and multi-channel configurations; Copy, clear, and delete job data, bind routing devices to achieve unified data archiving.

6.3 Sensor, speed, channel configuration

1. Free selection of 1-4 channels, supporting three-axis accelerometers, splitters, and four channel adapters;

2. Sensor type, sensitivity, power supply, and AC/DC coupling configuration;

Chapter 7: Advanced Laser Alignment Program (sensALIGN Laser Sensor Matching)

Used for coaxiality correction of shafts such as motors, pumps, fans, gearboxes, etc., available in basic/advanced modes, supporting three types of measurements: horizontal, vertical flange equipment, and base straightness.
