Product Overview

1. Product positioning

BRS BOBCAT's full range of fanless DIN rail industrial layer 2 network management switches are designed for harsh working conditions such as factory automation, rail transportation, ships, and substations; Supports 100/1000/2.5G power, multi specification SFP fiber, some models are equipped with IEEE802.3af/at PoE power supply, supports wire and ring network networking, built-in HiOS layer 2 firmware, compatible with industrial protocols such as RSTP, HIPER Ring, MACsec encryption, PROFINET, etc.

Pluggable SFP slot: Supports FastE/GE/2.5G, single-mode/multi-mode/long-distance LH, bidirectional BiDi optical modules, only original EEC wide temperature SFP can be used for -40~70 ℃ models, ordinary SFP will cause temperature derating.

Complete installation, wiring, and power on process

2.1 Preliminary Inspection

Unpacking and checking accessories: switch body, power terminal, DI terminal, magnetic ring (EMC optional), paper safety instructions; Check for transportation collision damage.

2.2 DIN rail installation and grounding

Compatible with 35mm standard DIN EN rail, with snap on upper and lower fastening fixation;

The grounding screw of the body is connected to the protective grounding wire, and the cable section is ≥ 1mm ²;

EMC magnetic ring optional model: The power cord passes through the magnetic ring twice and is installed within 5cm of the terminal to suppress conducted interference.

2.3 SFP optical module installation (optional)

Only use original SFP; Remove the dust cap, close the lock buckle and push it into the slot until it locks into place; Open the lock buckle and pull it out during disassembly, and promptly put on the dust cap; Non EEC optical modules will lower the maximum operating temperature of the entire machine.

2.4 Terminal Wiring (Divided into 4 Types of Terminals)

1) Power supply terminals (divided into four voltage specifications: T/F/U/P)

T:9.6~32VDC, Standard 24V DC;

F: 18~60VDC DC/18~30VAC AC;

U: PoE light load model, 18~30VDC, maximum PoE of the whole machine is 90W;

P: High power PoE models operate at 46-57VDC, with a maximum PoE of 240W for the entire machine;

Supporting dual redundant inputs, the device automatically draws high voltage power supply; Power off for ≥ 10ms.

2) FAULT Passive Relay

Always closed when there is no voltage, disconnected when there is a fault; Can monitor dual power loss, port disconnection, ring network failure, and machine self-test faults; Explosion proof scenarios strictly follow the limitations of physical capacitance/inductance parameters.

3) Digital DI input

2-pin terminal, standard 24V acquisition, compatible with two-wire/three wire sensors, used for external device signal access switch monitoring.

2.5 Data Cable Wiring Specification

Copper cable: Cat5e and above, twisted pair up to 100m; mandatory shielding network cable for gigabit/ship/railway scenarios; Separate the routing of strong and weak electrical cables to avoid parallel long distances and cross 90 ° to reduce coupling interference;

Fiber optic: Same type module docking (multi-mode to multi-mode, single-mode to single-mode), different SFP corresponding transmission distances (multi-mode 0-5km, ordinary single-mode 25km, long-distance LH up to 140km);

2.6 Power on and IP initialization

After the terminal is fully clamped and connected to the power supply, the whole machine self checks for about 60 seconds, and the LED flashes in full sequence;

Default parameters: IP automatic DHCP acquisition; Manage account admin (password private)/user (public read-only); Mandatory change of high-strength password for first-time login (case+number+special characters);

IP configuration channels: USB-ACA, HiVision, DHCP/BOOTP, Web, CLI;

Global indicator light for the entire machine

P power supply: green constant light=dual power supply; Huang Changliang=single power supply; Extinguish=Power undervoltage; Cycle 4 flash=firmware upgrade in progress;

FAULT red light: constantly on=relay disconnected with alarm; Extinguish=Device is functioning properly;

ACA: Green constant light=adapter connected; Flashing=read-write configuration; Yellow=abnormal adapter;

PoE: Yellow=Insufficient PoE power supply; Green=PoE normal output.

Port indicator light (LS green link/DA yellow data)

LS is constantly on: the link is normal; Extinguish: No connection; Cycle 1 Flash: Port standby; Cycle 3 Flash: Port Closed;

DA flashing: Port receiving and transmitting traffic; Extinguish: No data available.

RM ring network indicator light (HIPER Ring specific)

Extinguish=Ring network closed; Green always on=ring network activated, redundant ports disabled; Green flashing=ring network configuration error; Huang Changliang=Redundant ports enabled.


Maintenance and equipment disassembly

1. Daily maintenance

The whole machine has no random loss parts, only the FAULT relay ages with the number of on-off cycles, and the contact resistance is regularly checked in high-frequency scenarios;

Regularly clean the dust in the ventilation duct to avoid blockages that may cause excessive temperature;

The official website regularly updates firmware to obtain new features and fix vulnerabilities;

The storage/working temperature and humidity strictly follow the parameters to avoid condensation and high pollution environment.

2. Disassembly steps

Power off, unplug all network cables, fibers, and terminals USB;

Insert a straight screwdriver into the guide rail buckle and pull it down, then lift it up and remove the entire machine;

SFP disassembly: Open the lock buckle and pull it out, then cover it with a dust-proof protective cap.

1. Physical specifications

There are three types of body: narrow, medium, and wide. The plastic shell has an IP30 rating and the metal shell has an IP40 rating; Weight ranges from 380g to 1800g; Pollution protection level 2; Laser Class1; Vibration and impact comply with the IEC61131-2 industrial PLC standard.

2. Temperature and width grading

S/C standard type: 0 ℃~+60 ℃;

T/E/G wide temperature type: -40 ℃~+70 ℃;

The higher the altitude, the linear decrease in the maximum allowable temperature, and the operation above 2000m will be reduced; Storage temperature -40~85 ℃, humidity 1~95%, no condensation.

3. Power supply and PoE

4 voltage input specifications, the whole machine is equipped with non replaceable slow melting fuses;

PoE models are divided into U (maximum 90W) and P (maximum 240W output). The higher the power, the lower the upper limit of the ambient temperature, and there is a forced temperature derating curve.

4. Transmission distance

Twisted pair cable: Cat5e up to 100 meters in length;

Optical module: FastE multimode 4-5km, ordinary single-mode 25km, long-distance single-mode up to 140km; Gigabit/2.5G SFP covers multiple distances of 0.275-100+km.

5. EMC anti-interference

Complete static electricity, radio frequency, electrical fast pulse, surge, and conducted interference testing, while meeting the strict standards of general industry, railway EN50121, and ship DNV.
