Hirschmann RS20 Basic Series Industrial Ethernet Rail Switch

Equipment Overview (RS20 Basic... B Series)

1. Product positioning

A fanless DIN rail industrial switch for industrial automation, supporting copper/fiber networking, capable of building line and ring redundant industrial Ethernet (IEEE802.3), wide temperature range, redundant power supply, high resistance to vibration and impact, suitable for harsh industrial sites.

2. Core characteristics of the whole machine

The port specifications are divided into two major models:

RS20-0400... B: 4 10/100M electrical ports+2 optional uplink ports;

RS20-0800... B: 8 10/100M electrical ports+2 optional uplink ports;

Upstream choose one medium:

T1: RJ45 twisted pair 10/100M;

M2: DSC multimode fiber 100BASE-FX;

Electrical interface functions: automatic crossover, automatic negotiation, automatic polarity; Fiber optic ports default to full duplex;

Management methods: Web page, HiDiscovery, Industrial HiVision network management software, local V.24 serial port (RJ11), CLI command line;

Redundant ring network: supports fast ring network self-healing and automatic network reconstruction after faults;

Fault alarm: Passive relay FAULT signal contact, remote monitoring equipment abnormal.

3. Model coding rules (RS20-XX00XX XX XX AB)

Define product parameters in segments, using RS20-0800M2MSDAB as an example:

RS20: No Gigabit Port Rail Switch;

04/08: 4/8 10/100M electrical ports; 00: No gigabit port;

1st and 2nd uplink ports: T1 (RJ45)/M2 (multimode fiber DSC);

S: Standard temperature range: 0-60 ℃;

D: Power supply 9.6~60VDC/18~30VAC;

A: Certification CE/UL508/ISA12.12.01;

B: Basic version firmware.

4. Body hardware layout

6-pin withdrawable terminal block: dual redundant power supply P1/P2, FAULT alarm relay;

LED status indicator light: Power supply P of the whole machine, Fault FAULT; LS links and DA data transceiver lights for each port;

V. 24 RJ11 serial port: local debugging, CLI console;

Port area: RJ45 electrical port, DSC fiber optic uplink port;

Identification area: Handwritten label bits for MAC address and IP address;

Front panel grounding screw.


The entire process of installation and power on debugging

2.1 Equipment installation steps

Unpacking inspection: Check the packing list (switch, power terminal, manual+CD), and inspect for transportation damage;

Marking IP address: Fill in the IP address in the reserved tag space on the body for easy on-site operation and maintenance identification;

Power/alarm terminal wiring

Support dual DC/AC redundant power supply, with two power sources sharing the load without any load, and the equipment automatically selects the higher voltage one; Single power supply will trigger the FAULT alarm, which can be turned off by the network management system;

FAULT passive relay contacts: monitoring power loss, port link interruption, ring network redundancy failure, overall machine failure, self-test failure; Can manually control relay output through web pages;

DIN rail installation and grounding

Compatible with 35mm standard DIN EN 60175 rail, snap on quick disassembly and assembly;

The grounding screw of the aircraft body is connected to the protective grounding wire, and the shielding layer of the twisted pair cable is connected to the panel grounding;

Insert the terminal into the body and connect it to the power supply to automatically turn on the device;

Data cable connection

RJ45 electrical port: Cat5e cable can transmit up to 100m and supports MDI-X automatic line sequence;

DSC multimode fiber M2:50/125 fiber has a maximum distance of 5km, and 62.5/125 fiber has a maximum distance of 4km; fiber ports must be of the same type for docking (multimode only).

2.2 LED indicator status description

Whole machine indicator light

The green light of the P power supply is always on: the dual power supply is normal; Yellow light constantly on: only single power supply; Extinguish: Two power sources are under voltage;

FAULT red light is always on: relay disconnected, there is a fault alarm; Extinguish: The device is functioning normally without any alarms;

Port indicator light

LS green: always on=link connected; Slow flashing=port standby; Flash=port closed; Extinguish=no link;

DA yellow: flashing=port transmitting and receiving data; Extinguish=no flow.

2.3 Basic IP configuration method (factory default)

Configuration method: Local V.24 serial port, HiDiscovery, BOOTP, DHCP, ACA automatic configuration adapter;

Factory default parameters:

IP: DHCP automatic acquisition;

Account: user (read-only, password public), admin (read-write, password private);

V. 24 serial port parameters: 9600 baud, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, no checksum, no flow control;

The electrical port automatically negotiates to enable, and the fiber optic port defaults to full duplex.

2.4 Maintenance Requirements

The whole machine has no easily consumable internal components, only the relay naturally ages with the number of on-off cycles, and the contacts need to be regularly checked for high-frequency use;

Regularly clean the dust in the ventilation duct to avoid blockage; Manufacturers continue to update firmware, and upgrade packages can be downloaded from the official website;

The supporting management software Industrial HiVision supports batch configuration of multiple devices, topology discovery, event logging, and SNMP/OPC integration with SCADA.

2.5 Equipment disassembly

Insert a straight screwdriver into the rail buckle and pull it downwards, then lift it upwards to remove the switch.
