ABB Procontic T20G Programmable Controller

MODBUS Communication Processor 07 MK 62

Module base: Pre-processor of the ABB Procontic T200 with two independent, flexibly configurable and electrically isolated serial interfaces, 

capable of communicating in MODBUS networks in master or slave mode. The metal casing design, the front panel with integrated display elements, 

two 9-pin D-type sockets (for MODBUS interfaces) and the reset button, as well as the 6 LEDs visualising the operating and error status, 

allow the user to keep track of the device's operation.


Installation points: At the project planning stage, the 07 MK 62 Communication Processor can only be installed in the basic subrack of the 

ABB Procontic T200. For software configuration, it is necessary to enter ‘EAW4’ exactly in the configuration menu of the 907 PC 332 programming software. 

For the software installation, it is necessary to install the 907 PC 332 (version 9/94 and later) and then add the relevant connecting elements (CEs)

and function blocks (FBs) to the library with the help of the ‘07 MK 62 MODBUS T200,CEs and FBs for MODBUS coupler T200’ diskette. 

Add the relevant connection elements (CEs) and function blocks (FBs) to the library to complete the complete system setup.


Communication protocol analysis: MODBUS protocol adopts request/answer mode, 

and the communication frame format contains slave number, function code, message text and CRC16 checksum. 

Different function codes correspond to different data operations, such as function code 01 or 02 is used to read n-bit data, 

function code 03 or 04 is used to read n-word data. At the same time, the protocol defines the error codes, such as address error, data error, etc. 

It also specifies the default settings and configurable ranges of communication parameters to ensure the accuracy and stability of communication.


MODBUS RTU Introduction: MODBUS RTU, as an internationally renowned standard, is widely used for local coupling of automation systems, 

PLCs, operation terminals, PC operation stations and so on. 

It supports multi-point lines and the transmission speed can reach up to 19.2 kbit/s. Short response time can be achieved through reasonable configuration. 

The network configuration is flexible, including multi-point line, point-to-point connection, etc., 

and modem can be connected to extend the transmission distance to meet the needs of different application scenarios.

and can be connected via coaxial cable or optical fibre, providing a high degree of flexibility and scalability.


Performance parameters: PDnet data transfer rate up to 2.5 Mbit/s, can effectively shorten the access time. 

The length of the bus can reach about 300 m without repeaters, and can be extended to about 6 km with repeaters and couplers in a star configuration. 

the number of nodes can support up to 10 participants without repeaters, and can accommodate up to 255 participants with repeaters and couplers in 

a star configuration, which can satisfy the needs of networks of different sizes.

Hardware and software support: The PDnet hardware consists of the 07 KP66 coupler for the T200, the 07 KP 96 coupler for the CS31, 

couplers for PCs and various couplers for other systems. 

For software, configuration software and diagnostic software are provided, 

along with detailed documentation to facilitate system configuration, troubleshooting and maintenance management.


Other software and equipment

907 IR 60 Software: This software is designed for writing programmes for the 07 IR 60 industrial computer and can be run on specific IBM compatible 

PCs (e.g. 07 PC 32 model or 07 PH32 model). Its functions include editing and testing BASIC programmes, sending and receiving 

BASIC programmes to and from the 07IR60, configuring the 07 IR 60 interface, and reading and writing BASIC programmes as MS-DOS files, 

providing users with a convenient programming and data management tool.


07 KT 60 Text Processor: The 07 KT 60 Text Processor is primarily used to connect the ABB Procontic T200 controller to an external display device or printer. 

It offers an optional RS-423 (RS-232-C) or RS-422 serial interface, which is electrically isolated from internal voltages for safe operation. 

Data interaction with the central unit is via four 16-bit word input addresses and four 16-bit word output addresses, 

and data is stored in 24-kbyte battery-backed RAM, allowing the user to create text content via the programming unit or other display devices.


907 KP 64 Software: The 907 KP 64 software is used to write programmes for the RCOM 07 KP 64 communications processor 

and runs on IBM compatible PCs of the 07 PC 32 and 07 PH 32 types. 

It supports communication between the ABB MasterPiece 200 and the T200 system, 

with the 07 KP 64 unit acting as either a RCOM master or a slave. Up to 254 RCOM slaves can be operated in a network (up to 8 with Masterpiece 200). 

The software offers a wide range of communication functions such as cold start, hot start, reset, clock synchronisation, data read/write and event polling, 

as well as an additional operator interface according to the EIA RS-232-C standard for commissioning and configuration work.
