Module core positioning and functions
core positioning
Adaptation scenario: DCS 5000/AutoMax rack, specially designed for multi processor collaboration, is a necessary module for multi processor racks.
Core values: Liberate processor memory (store shared configuration data), solve multi processor bus conflicts, and ensure data is not lost in case of power failure.
core functionality
Bus arbitration: When multiple processors access the bus simultaneously, bus usage rights are allocated according to slot priority, supporting up to 4 processors (slots 1-4).
Shared storage: Stores COMMON variables (physical I/O definitions, multitasking shared data), with 57C413B being 128KB, 57C423 being 256KB in slot 0, and other slots being 128KB.
Watchdog monitoring: Only slot 0 is enabled to detect processor faults. When a fault occurs, an interrupt is triggered and error codes 4.0-4.6 are displayed.
Power failure protection: Lithium battery (3.6V, 2.0Ah)+supercapacitor combination, lithium battery has a maximum data retention of 2000 days, and supercapacitor can maintain data for 400 minutes after charging for 8 minutes.
Key technical parameters
Parameter item 57C413b 57C423 Remarks
Storage capacity 128KB (64K registers) 256KB (128K registers, 0 slots)/128KB (other slots) allocated according to logical address space
Data retention: Lithium batteries last for ≥ 600 days, supercapacitors last for ≥ 400 minutes, and supercapacitors can reach 90% capacity after 8 minutes of charging, similar to 57C413B supercapacitors
Bus arbitration supports up to 4 processors with only 0 slot enabled on 57C413b
The working temperature is 0-60 ℃, and the storage temperature of 57C413b is -40-85 ℃
Power consumption+5V DC, 1050mA, with a maximum power consumption of 5.3W compared to 57C413B
The battery model is 57C385 lithium battery (3.6V, 2.0Ah), which is non rechargeable and non removable, similar to 57C413b
Module size 11.75 × 1.25 × 7.375 inches compatible with 57C413b standard rack

Installation and replacement specifications
Installation requirements
Slot restriction:
Slot 0: Enable bus arbitration+shared storage. 57C413b requires one slot on the right to be empty/with processors installed, and 57C423 requires three slots on the right to be empty/with processors installed.
Other even slots (2/4/6, etc.): for data storage only, the right slot must be empty.
Safety regulations: Power off before installation, avoid touching the back connector, and store in an anti-static bag when not in use.
Installation Process
Power off and disconnect all rack connections.
Remove the module, remove the protective tape on the battery (activate the battery), and ensure that the "+" pole of the battery is aligned with the "+" pole of the bracket.
Insert the module into the target slot and secure it with a screwdriver.
Power on, slot 0 is verified through processor self-test, and other slots are tested for read and write functionality using I/O MONITOR.
Replacement and battery replacement
Module replacement: Stop all tasks → Power off → Remove old module → Activate battery with new module → Install → Power on → Reload configuration and tasks.
Battery replacement: Power on for 8 minutes (supercapacitor charging) → Stop task → Power off → Disassemble module → Replace 57C413B lithium battery → Reinstall → Power on verification (BAT-OK light on).
Programming and Configuration
Variable storage rules
Storage object: Only COMMON variables (shared by multitasking), local variables are still stored in the processor module.
Variable type:
Volatile variable (MEMDEF): Clears to zero after power failure, supports integer, boolean, string, and other types.
Non volatile variable (NVMEMDEF): Retains data after power failure and relies on batteries/supercapacitors.
configuration method
Software version configuration tool/statement core operation
AutoMax V3.0+Rack Configurator graphical configuration variable names, types, and storage locations
AutoMax V2.1 and earlier configuration tasks (BASIC statements) MEMDEF (volatile), NVMEMDEF (non-volatile), IODEF (specified address)
access restriction
0 slot: The variable address is automatically allocated by the system and accessed only through the variable name.
Other even slots: slot+register+bit address must be specified, supporting variable name or address access.
Array restriction: When storing in non-zero slots, arrays cannot be defined.
Troubleshooting
Indicator light malfunction
BAT-OK light off: Battery not activated, polarity reversed, battery failure, power failure, battery status needs to be checked and replaced.
SYSTEM WATCHDOG light off (slot 0): Module failure, failed self-test, missing bus clock, module replacement or processor troubleshooting is required.
Data error (output exception)
Troubleshooting steps: ① Verify whether the module slot meets the requirements; ② Confirm that all variables are declared as COMMON; ③ Test read and write with I/O MONITOR; ④ Replace modules/processors to troubleshoot hardware issues.
Bus error (processor displaying codes 31/51-58)
Troubleshooting steps: ① Verify the validity of module slots and addresses; ② Check the IOREAD/OWRITE statement address; ③ Accessing with I/O MONITOR testing module; ④ Replace modules/processors/backboards and troubleshoot hardware.
