Product Overview

The WITTENSTEIN alpha LP+/LPB+series is a low backlash planetary gear reducer designed specifically for industrial applications. Its core function is to achieve precise conversion of torque and speed, suitable for industrial scenarios that do not involve restrictions under the 2002/95/EU directive. The product is divided into two major series, with the core difference being the output structure:

LP+series: equipped with output shaft, supporting 1st or 2nd level transmission, with sizes covering 050, 070, 090, 120, 155 five specifications;

LPB+series: equipped with output flange (can install toothed belt pulley), only supports 1-level transmission, with sizes covering 070, 090, and 120 specifications.

The product adopts an "M" type motor installation design, which clamps the hub to center the motor (rather than the adapter plate) to avoid radial deformation of the motor; Compatible with multiple types of motors, flexible matching can be achieved through adapter plates and bushings, and lifelong lubrication is completed from the factory without the need for additional lubricants.

2. Environmental and operational limitations

Working environment temperature: -15 ℃~+40 ℃ (if exceeded, please consult customer service);

Maximum operating temperature: ≤ 90 ℃;

Storage conditions: horizontal placement, dry environment, temperature range of 0 ℃~+40 ℃, maximum storage time of 2 years;

Operating requirements: Avoid icing (to prevent damage to seals), clean and dust-free, and free from corrosive media.


Installation and assembly process

1. Preparation before assembly

Check the delivery list and confirm that the components are complete (LPB+including adapter board and 4 fastening bolts);

Clean key components: mating surfaces, alignment structure, motor shaft, inner diameter of plug socket, inner and outer sides of bushing, remove rust inhibitor (acetone or Loctite 7063 can be used);

Preparation tools: calibration torque wrench, fiber free cloth, non corrosive cleaning agent, thread locking agent (such as Loctite 243).

2. Core assembly process (differences between LP+and LPB+)

Step LP+Series LPB+Series

1. Install the motor (including pre installation of adapter board) and fix the gear reducer to the equipment (optional shim adjustment position)

2. Install the output side components (gears/pulleys) and install the motor (manually pre tighten the adapter plate first)

3. Install the fixed gear reducer onto the output side toothed belt pulley of the equipment

3. Key installation requirements

Motor adaptation: It must be designed for B5, with radial/axial runout tolerances up to DIN 42955 "N" level, and smooth shafts are preferred (with keys to be removed);

Requirement for alignment: The cut of the bushing should be aligned with the groove of the motor shaft and at a 90 ° angle to the threaded pin; There is no gap between the motor and the adapter board;

Tightening specification: Bolts need to be tightened diagonally in steps (at least 2 times) and operated according to the specified torque (such as LPB+070 adapter plate M4 bolt torque of 2.64Nm);

Prohibited behaviors: Do not use gaskets, do not violently tap assembly, do not use compressed air for cleaning (to prevent damage to seals).

Operation and maintenance

1. Operating standards

Load limit: strictly adhere to the rated speed and torque, and do not operate beyond the load limit;

Environmental control: Keep the operating environment clean and dry, avoid the accumulation of dust and oil stains;

Exception handling: If abnormal conditions such as temperature rise or increased noise are found, immediately stop the machine for troubleshooting and prohibit operation with defects.

2. Maintenance plan

Maintain 500 hours/3 months at project initiation, every 3 months per year

Visual inspection (shell damage, leakage) 

Tightening torque inspection (shell/motor/pulley bolts)

3. Lubrication instructions

Standard configuration: Lifetime lubrication, lubricant provided by Castrol;

Special requirements: Kl ü ber Lubrication's USDA-H1 certified products can be selected for the food industry;

Leakage treatment: It is normal for a small amount of lubricant to seep out. If the leakage persists, please contact customer service to investigate the sealing components.


Troubleshooting and Disposal

Possible causes and solutions for fault phenomena

The operating temperature has increased by 1. The product does not match the working conditions; 2. Motor heat conduction; 3. The ambient temperature is too high. 1. Check the technical specifications; 2. Check the motor wiring/replace the compatible motor; 3. Strengthen heat dissipation

Increased operating noise: 1. Motor installation deformation; 2. Bearing damage; 3. Contact customer service for gear tooth surface damage, and have professional personnel repair/replace parts

Lubricant loss: 1. Excessive lubricant addition; 2. Seal failure: 1. Wipe off excess lubricant and observe continuously; 2. Contact customer service to replace the seal


Safety and disposal

1. Safety precautions

During operation: Keep away from rotating parts to avoid the risk of getting involved; Wear protective gloves to touch the outer shell (to prevent high temperature burns);

During maintenance: Cut off the power first and take anti restart measures;

During transportation: Use suitable lifting equipment to avoid impact and do not stand under suspended loads.

2. Disposal and Recycling

Packaging disposal: According to local environmental regulations, classify and recycle packaging materials such as cardboard and aluminum foil;

Product disposal: When scrapped, it must be sent to a designated recycling point and comply with local waste disposal regulations;

Component replacement: For adapter board replacement and disassembly, please consult customer service. Unauthorized modification is prohibited.
