Product Core Positioning and Introduction

PCIe-PXIe-8638 is a set of PCI Express to PXI Express remote expansion kit, which uses the second-generation PCIe high-speed bus to enable desktop/industrial control hosts to remotely control all PXIe acquisition and testing instrument modules inside the external PXIe chassis, solving the needs of insufficient slots in the host chassis and remote placement of testing equipment.

The basic components of the entire system are:

1. PCIe-8638 host adapter card: installed in the PCIe x8 slot of industrial control/desktop host;

2. PXIe-8638 remote controller: Insert into slot 1 of the PXIe chassis controller;

3. PCIe x8 dedicated high-speed cable (available in 2m/5m specifications).

Fully transparent design of hardware and software: The system can automatically recognize all remote PXIe cards without the need for additional driver or supporting software installation. The host operates the remote PXI module as if it were a local slot device, making it easy to use.

Single PCIe x8 interface, only used as a host to directly connect to the first PXIe chassis controller;

2. PXIe-8638D (dual port cascaded version)

Dual independent PCIe Gen2 x8 ports, each with a bandwidth of 4GB/s; The upper port is connected to the host PCIe-8638, and the lower port can be connected in series with another PXIe-8638/8638D to achieve daisy chain multi chassis expansion;

3. PXIe-8638P (Peripheral Slot Expansion)

Not occupying the No.1 controller slot of the chassis, it can be inserted into a regular PXIe peripheral slot for building a star shaped multi chassis topology, suitable for systems only equipped with basic PXIe-8638.
