Product Core Positioning and Certification
This product is an Electronic Plotting Assistance (EPA) marine radar launched by Sperry Maritime, which belongs to the Northrop Grumman Electronic Systems division. Sperry Maritime's global headquarters is located in Charlottesville, Virginia, USA, with core engineering and support offices in Melville, New York, New Morden, UK, and Hamburg, Germany.
The product has passed full type certification (wheel marked) and is a marine radar equipment that meets industry standards. At the same time, the brand also provides ATA and ARPA series radars based on the same radar technology, and relevant information is displayed in a separate manual.
Core functional characteristics
The product is designed around ship navigation and target monitoring, with functions that meet the needs of maritime operations. Key functions have clear performance indicators:
Navigation data reception and display
It can directly receive navigation data from compatible navigation sensors, support displaying the ship's position, cursor longitude and latitude, and also display the ship's voyage plan, intuitively judging whether the ship deviates from the route. This function is particularly important for independent radar installation scenarios without electronic chart systems (ECS).
If paired with Sperry Maritime's original navigation sensors, the radar can display the first 9 and last 9 waypoints, enhancing the visualization level of navigation planning.
target plotting
Equipped with electronic plotting assistance (EPA) function, it can manually plot up to 10 targets simultaneously and display complete relevant data for each target, meeting the monitoring needs of ships for surrounding targets.
Radar map production and storage
Support operators to create multi-layer radar maps, allowing them to independently choose the information categories displayed on the radar screen. The colors and symbols of the map comply with the IEC radar map specifications.
Map data can be automatically calibrated through navigation input, and all map data is stored in the system without the need for additional external storage devices.
Hardware configuration and optional accessories
The product has a rich hardware configuration, providing multiple specifications for selection, while supporting compatibility with mainstream devices and personalized selection:
core hardware
Antenna: Available in three specifications: 4-foot, 6-foot, and 8-foot;
Transceiver: Equipped with 10kW or 25kW X-band transceiver to meet different detection distance and accuracy requirements;
Input interface: includes 2 channels of NMEA 0183 serial input, which can be adapted to the interface of most standard compasses;
Control mode: Supports two control modes: trackball or joystick, adapted to the operating habits of different operators.
Optional accessories: A performance monitor can be selected according to the requirements, which is a compliant configuration for SOLAS ships.
Key technical specifications
The product is divided into two core components: display and scanner. The power supply, power consumption, and weight of each component have clear standards, and the differences in parameters between different models/specifications are clear. The specific details are shown in the table below:
