ABB SER-740 Sequential Event Recorder Module
Basic information
Place of origin: Sweden.
Size: approx. 5.1 cm x 33.0 cm x 17.8 cm.
Weight: approx. 0.6kg.
Performance Features
Highly Accurate Timestamping: The ability to accurately timestamp each recorded event with milliseconds or better resolution ensures that events occur in the exact chronological order they do, helping to accurately analyse and troubleshoot fast transient events in industrial processes.
Large-capacity event storage: Equipped with a large-capacity storage buffer, it can store a large number of sequential event records, which can generally meet the recording needs of industrial systems running continuously for a long time and reduce the risk of data loss due to insufficient storage.
Multiple triggering methods: It supports multiple ways of triggering event recording, such as triggering mechanism based on signal state change, specific condition fulfilment and time interval. Users can flexibly configure the triggering conditions according to the actual application scenarios to ensure that key events can be accurately recorded.
Flexible communication interfaces: With a variety of communication interfaces, such as RS-232, RS-485, Ethernet, etc., it can conveniently communicate with other automation equipment, control systems or host computers to achieve remote transmission, monitoring and analysis of event recording data.
Strong anti-interference ability: Adopting advanced hardware design and signal processing technology, it has strong anti-electromagnetic interference ability, and can work stably and reliably in the harsh industrial electromagnetic environment to ensure the integrity and accuracy of the event recording data.
Easy to configure and operate: through the special configuration software or human-machine interface, users can easily configure the module parameters, function settings and operation status monitoring, without complex programming and professional technical knowledge, reducing the threshold of use and maintenance costs.
Working Principle
The SER-740 module monitors digital signals or status information from various industrial equipment and sensors in real time through its input channels. When the input signal meets the preset trigger conditions, the module will immediately record the relevant information of the event, including the timestamp of the event, the type of the event, the status of the relevant signal, etc., and store these records in the internal buffer. At the same time, the module will transmit the recorded event data to the host computer or other monitoring devices through the communication interface according to the communication protocol and parameters set by the user for further analysis and processing.
Application Areas
Power system monitoring: in power plants, substations and other power systems, it is used to record switching actions of power equipment, triggering of protection devices, fault alarms and other events, helping power engineers to analyse the operating conditions of the power grid, the causes of faults and the accuracy of the protection actions, and to improve the reliability and safety of the power system.
Industrial automation control: Widely used in various industrial automation production lines, such as chemical, steel, cement, paper and other industries, it can record events such as the start and stop of production equipment, changes in operating status, and overruns of process parameters, which provides data support for optimising the production process, improving the utilisation rate of equipment, and product quality.
Transportation monitoring: in the field of rail transportation and intelligent transportation, it can be used to record the running status of trains, changes in signal system commands, equipment failure alarms and other events, providing an important basis for traffic scheduling and equipment maintenance, and guaranteeing the safe and efficient operation of transportation.
Energy management system: In the process of energy production, transmission and distribution, it records the operation status of energy equipment and events related to energy consumption, which helps energy management personnel to analyse the efficiency of energy use, optimize the energy distribution scheme, and achieve the goals of energy saving, emission reduction and energy cost reduction.
Security Monitoring System: As part of the security monitoring system, it can record the card swipe records of the access control system, the triggering events of the alarm equipment, and the key events in the video monitoring system, etc., which can provide powerful evidence for the investigation and analysis of the security incidents, and enhance the reliability and deterrent effect of the security system.
